Double Letters

There is often a double letter at the end of a stressed syllable, fooling us into thinking there is a rule:	However, around 1000 words don't behave the same, so it's easy to double a letter mistakenly, in words like these:
shoddy holly mammal common poppy popper mirror	body holiday camel comic copy proper miracle
